Sweet potato fries, where have you all our lives? When we were kids we didn’t have a choice of what type of fries we’d prefer. Don’t get me wrong, I value having a choice. Even if they’re prepared in a deep fryer, sweet potato fries are technically a healthier choice than your average starchy french fry. Right? Our Spicy Sweet Potato Fries are baked so they are definitely a healthier option.
Drizzled with a touch of olive oil and gently dusted with a savory season blend of chili powder and sea salt, this tasty side pairs perfectly with our Philly Cheese Steak Sliders. For a vegetarian meal try them with our Italian Bean Burgers. If your fries are for kiddos or if you’re not partial to spicy food, feel free to omit the chili powder.
Spicy Sweet Potato Fries
Love sweet potato fries but want to avoid all the grease? These healthier, Baked Sweet Potato Fries feature a savory spice blend are mega delicious.
- 2 large yams, peeled, cut into ½-inch thick lengthwise batons
- 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- Sea salt (or Himalayan salt) (to taste; optional)
Heat oven to 400° F.
Place sweet potatoes in a large bowl. Drizzle with oil; toss gently to coat.
Season with chili powder and salt; toss gently to coat.
Spread potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, turning once, until brown and tender.
Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
