Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I was large and felt unhealthy. At only five foot four, I peaked to 202.5 pounds. People joked that I was wider than I was taller. I would lose some weight and put it on again. My back hurt, I had no energy, and enjoyed being sedentary. I was not satisfied with my large gut but didn’t know how to change it. Friends made jokes and I laughed along with them as I never took it seriously. Due to my height, my weight was really disproportional; I was almost as big around as I was tall (hahaha). I was uncomfortable and would eat until I was “full.” I suffer from sleep apnea and am using a CPAP machine — something I am hoping goes away with my next check-up.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My daughter, and Coach, Stephanie Peers, inspired me to try a program that would really work. I needed to feel better and get better. Since other programs had failed, I gave this one a try. I started the 21 Day Fix at 196 lbs., and with the help of my Coach, I stuck with it. My wife joined as well and we worked on the plan together as support. The 21 Day Fix was what I was looking for. The weight started coming off and so did the inches. I now wear pants and shorts that had been put away hoping to be used again one day. My goal was set to be 170 lbs., and I have reached 169.6 lbs. I have now set a new goal of 165 lbs., as that is more in line with my height. Who knows, maybe I’ll get to 160 lbs.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
The greatest challenge I faced before starting Beachbody programs was just the feeling of fatigue, low air volume (lung capacity) in my breathing, low energy, sore knees and lower back, and exercising was pretty much non-existent. When I reached the top of a flight of stairs, I would be out of breath — and I don’t smoke. I have not only overcome these challenges, but I have exceeded my expectations — I feel great. I continue to follow the exercises and drink Shakeology daily. I can ride my bike for hours, do an hour of a physical elliptical workout, and walk the treadmill for an hour without running out of breath and getting fatigued. I highly recommend other people to just start and stick with it.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
The program was actually very easy to follow; the workouts allowed modified versions until you build up the strength to advance. The variations of exercises and being able to eat real foods made it interesting and enjoyable.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
My results were tremendous with a large weight loss from 196 lbs. to 169 lbs. That is something I thought that I would never get to. I now swim in the same T-shirts that once supported a beach ball-sized belly (it was easier to call it a beer belly). My old clothes fit me loosely and I have the energy to go-go-go.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
My life has changed in that I pay more attention to the healthy changes. I have taken things from the program that changed my lifestyle for the better. People compliment me on my weight loss and how good I look. The best part is that, even though I have adapted my lifestyle to eating healthier and exercising with the help of the Beachbody program, I didn’t let it consume me to the point I would lose interest. This is a program that worked and I will continue to use it to maintain my achievements.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
I did the 21 Day Fix Challenge. It allowed me to stay focused on the goal ahead and push to achieve. As I saw daily results of others and my own results, it prompted me to go at it daily and never give up.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
My Coach was very encouraging with moral support and motivational/inspirational messages. She was always there to answer questions and to question if I had done my workouts for the day. My Coach, Stephanie Peers, was very supportive and knowledgeable of the programs and products.

I used Shakeology daily and found it was the best nutritional product I had tried to date (and I have tried others). It provided many benefits, including digestion and regularity, increased energy, and overall better mood.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program affect any existing health conditions you have?
I found that Shakeology helped with the digestion and regularity issues the most. I found that I would eat and immediately end up bloated until I started using Shakeology daily. I am now going to add ActiVit Multivitamins to my diet.
