Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before I started the program, I was in a rut. I had always been an athlete, but I stopped exercising. I no longer taught spin class, didn’t get to the gym, and no longer played team sports (which I love), because of three knee surgeries. I found every excuse possible. I was busy with my kids’ activities, going to out-of-town tournaments, eating way too much food, and drinking too many beers. I started hating my job, my coworkers, and was overall miserable. I didn’t want to put on a bathing suit, and I started to hate seeing myself in pictures.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
As I entered my 40s, I realized that if I can’t model strong, positive behaviors for my children, who can? Given how miserable I was, I needed to re-take control of my mood, body, and general well-being. I had a friend doing Beachbody, so I touched base with her. I am a social being, and I needed to be accountable. I needed to stabilize my mood, my weight, etc.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My greatest challenge has been the food. I like food. I like wine, beer, chocolate, and sweets. I honestly believe Shakeology has helped curb my cravings, as well as my three weeks of 100 percent clean eating that I started with. The Beachbody programs are perfect for someone like me, because I know what I need to do every day, how long I expect it to take, and where I’m going. I like structure. I could do the Beachbody programs anytime during the day, which helped me since my life is busy! Now I move from one program to the next!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
Initially, I chose PiYo to get me started. In 60 days, I lost 15 pounds and gained great core strength. I liked that it didn’t require any equipment. I could do it when I traveled, too, which made it easy to stay on point. Then I moved onto 21 Day Fix. This helped me further reign in the portions. I did two rounds, and signed up to be a Coach to help others. Then I moved onto Hammer & Chisel. Lifting has always been something I have done, so it was great to add this back into my routine.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
Over the past seven months, I have maintained a 20-pound weight loss. Overall, I have lost a total of 19 inches combined, most of it in my waist. I went from 35 to 28 inches! Seven inches is a lot off one’s waist! I have more muscle definition than I did playing field hockey in college! I love muscles, and I have defined abs and an overall strong body!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I will never fully be complete with Beachbody programs. Rather, I will do one program after another. I feel great about my body, and I love helping others. It’s no longer about weight loss. I want to be strong, and I want to be comfortable in my own skin.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
The Challenge Groups were great. They were supportive and motivating.
