Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I had a really rough pregnancy with my son.4 I had SPD and was practically immobile, except for the necessary chasing after and taking care of my older daughter. By the time I checked in to deliver on December 30, I weighed 184 lbs. I’m 5’2″ and it was painful to see that scale, even though I was in the hospital for such an amazing miracle. The after was almost as difficult. I was so overweight and in such pain that it made everything a little bit harder. I was so happy with my baby and my family, but I was just not happy with my body. I saw my physical therapist, and she told me I was not cleared to work out with any impact or run until six months postpartum.4 I was devastated. She told me to just take it slow and realize that in a year, I could be a “badass” in her words. But it just wasn’t enough.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I saw a picture of myself on March 8th with my beautiful family, and I felt the desire to erase it! Erase a family picture! I love my family, and I was beyond thankful to be able to carry another healthy, perfect baby to term but that didn’t help me love my body. I wanted to embrace the postpartum and just be thankful, but I couldn’t. I was headed toward being depressed and just never wanting photos of me and my kids, which is not the life I want. That exact night I emailed Logan because I had seen her results with PiYo and I wanted that! So I asked for her help, and I started PiYo March 14th!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My greatest overall challenge before and even during was just my physical condition. My body was weak and heavy, and I had zero stabilization of my pelvis.3 PiYo literally changed everything. Not only was I able to work to stabilize my pelvis, I started to increase my stamina, cut my body fat, and tone and build my muscles. These are all things I had a lack of during my entire pregnancy, and my body started to change quickly! I haven’t been back for my next physical therapist check-in, but I just know she’s literally going to be floored when she sees me and realizes how strong I am!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
Ahhhh I love Chalene! She was so positive and encouraging, and I love that Michelle had modifiers, because in the beginning, I had to modify so much. But the mix of Pilates and yoga, and the constant movement of PiYo, just helped my body ease into being active again. I strengthened the areas that were so weak and so painful, and I noticed myself improving every single day!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
Oh gosh, where do I start? I lost weight and inches, but it’s so much more about what I gained than what I lost. I gained confidence. I gained my clothes back. I gained the ability to carry my toddler and lift her up, and she recognizes that as well. I am proud of those pounds and inches I lost. They show, and I am so proud of myself. I am proud of myself for sticking with it, not quitting, eating healthy, and committing even in the madness of having a newborn and a toddler. My husband is a firefighter and works 24-hour shifts, but I made it about myself and did it!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
Beachbody has changed everything. I am healthier, which means more than I’m skinny. I still have a long way to go, but I am fit and happier. My family is happier and eats healthier. My daughter sees me work out and tells me how strong I look! Everything has changed!
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Our group is amazing. End of story. Everyone in the group is so encouraging. We have daily check-ins and amazing challenges that keep us all excited and engaged. We literally laugh and cry with posts daily! It’s a family!
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
Gah! She is the best. I came to her instead of her coming to me, and I’m just so thankful that I reached out. She is so encouraging, helpful, and honest. She has been where I am, and so she knew exactly what to say and how to help. She was always there with a supportive text message or whatever it is that I needed. Her helping me get started and putting me in these Challenge Groups is what changed everything. I am forever grateful for her.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
I love Shakeology! I am breastfeeding so, to be honest, I was very, very, very worried about using it. I asked Logan, and she said that she thought it was still a good idea. I need the shakes for lunch, but I’m obviously very careful to make sure my snacks and other meals have enough protein and everything to make milk. But I feel more energy and just happier, and I haven’t missed a day since it arrived on March 20th!
