Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I was having a hard time buttoning my pants. I was down to my last two pairs, and just about ready to go out and buy the next size up. I felt soft and out of shape… I wasn’t looking forward to summer swimming for sure. Also, my blood pressure had climbed up to 145/92.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I was worried about my blood pressure, and tired of looking and feeling tired. I didn’t feel good about how I looked. I wanted to try something different, instead of just going on another diet and doing the same old stuff at the gym.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
I would lose weight, and then put it right back on again; I couldn’t stick to a diet or exercise routine. P90X3 gave me a structured, entertaining, and variety filled routine that never gets old. When I was going to the gym, it took 20 minutes to get there, 20 to get back, 15 minutes to get a locker and change, 40 minutes on the elliptical and 30 in the pool; then shower and change again. That’s over 2 hours. Sometimes I didn’t feel like it was worth going if I couldn’t do the whole 2 hours, so I wouldn’t go at all. P90X3 is only 30 minutes, and right here in my own home, so I can do it every single day! And there are so many different workouts and combinations that I never get bored. It’s challenging, but it’s also flexible, so I never felt like it was too far out of my reach.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I chose P90X3, and I like that it only takes 30 minutes per workout. I also like the variety; there are so many different workouts included in the program. And Tony Horton and his minions are very entertaining.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I lost 21 lbs. I took 3 inches off my waist. My % fat decreased from 123.3 to 118. My blood pressure came down from 145/92 to a consistent 125/75. I can do 30 push ups now, where I could only do 15 before; I still have a long ways to go with some aspects, like pull ups, but that only makes me more eager to continue with the program.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I can easily fit into all my old clothes. I feel better about how I look, and I feel better physically. I completed the P90X3 Classic program and went right into the Lean program, because I want to work on my abs and get my fat content down some more. And when I finish with Lean, I will probably go to the Mass program.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
The Challenge Groups are great! My Coach, Emilee Gidley, did an October Challenge Group, and the Gidley Graduate group. It really helps to see how other people are doing, and to get feedback from them about how to overcome challenges, and to see what they are doing differently. The other members of the Group are really good about cheering each others successes, and encouraging each other when we hit a bump in the road. It really drives accountability when you know others are keeping track of what you’re doing.
How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
My Coach was with me every step of the way. From answering questions about how to get started, and what programs were out there to choose from, to offering advice and encouragement along the way. She is always posting new ideas for clean and healthy meals or workout ideas. She frequently will challenge us to do a mini challenge, like go 3 days without added sugar, or have us pick something we want to do differently for the next 7 days to improve our fitness results.
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology® or Beachbody Ultimate Reset®) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
Shakeology is part of my daily routine now. I substitute Shakeology for breakfast, which is a big improvement, since I mostly skipped breakfast before, or ate a pastry or doughnut. By doing Shakeology for breakfast, I not only get very healthy breakfast, but I’m much less likely to indulge in a sugar filled snack before lunch. I do my P90X3 workout every morning before I go to work, then drink my Shakeology on the way to work. I feel energized, and my cravings for sweets are satisfied in a much more healthy way. Best of all, Shakeology actually tastes good! Also, there are lots of ideas out there for adding other flavors to help keep things interesting.
