Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
It was right after my graduation when I noticed that my physical activity level was significantly limited by gaining 50 pounds during my college years. I had difficulty breathing after walking a few blocks. I could not fit in any of my clothes, and I was extremely low in energy at all times. Looking in the mirror, I was asking myself how did I let that happen to me? I was feeling that I did not have enough energy or motivation to start the changing process.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
What really shocked me was the results of my annual medical check-up. My physician instructed me to start antihypertensive medications since my blood pressure was found to be 150/95. My triglyceride and cholesterol level was high above normal level, and I was told that I was obese due to my BMI of 34. I knew that it was the time to start the change but did not know how exactly that would be possible. I realized that I needed help with the process, and I started to look for a solution.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
I was working at a hospital as a physician-in-training, and my schedule was a total disaster. I was working on average 16 hours daily, which had left me no extra time for anything. I was on call on weekends and nights occasionally. I was at work for 36-hour shifts. I could not commit to any exercise program and was unable to ask for help from any private training due to my uncertain schedule. I absolutely had no time for transportation to the gym, and injury was another risk factor which I was very concerned about. I was introduced to P90X by one of my co-residents, and found out that it can be done at home and takes about 60 to 90 minutes to complete. The most important factor was I actually had a world-class trainer right at my house with the P90X program. The Beachbody team had answers for almost all questions that came to my mind before starting. I decided to give it a try since that was perhaps one program that could be fit in my busy daily schedule.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
P90X was a world-class exercise program right at my home. It takes only about 60–90 minutes, and I could do it at any time during the day that I was free. The risks of injury were very low, and the workouts were very efficient in time and intensity. The P90X diet plan was absolutely great, and by adding that to workouts, I could feel my body was transforming. This program, in my opinion, is one of the most efficient workout programs ever created. P90X works for people with very busy schedules and is ideal for both males and females. The fact that I could do the workout at any given time with one of the best trainers (Tony) was absolutely amazing.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
During the course of the P90X program, I was able to lose 53 pounds. My blood pressure was measured to be 125/80 and my body fat percentage came down from 34 percent to 22.5 percent. My back pain was entirely resolved and I feel healthy, younger, and stronger.1 I am definitely in the best shape of my life, both physically and mentally.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I believe in myself again and am ready for new challenges. I wish I had found this program earlier in my life, but it is never too late. I am happier in my life, and what more could I ask for? Thanks to the P90X team and the entire Beachbody team, I had all these amazing outcomes.
