Taylor Got in Great Shape With P90X!

Meet Taylor T.! He participated in The Beachbody Challenge and won the $500 Daily Prize for July 24th!

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Long story short, I hated my body, but I was usually partying too much to care. At my biggest point, about 3 years ago, I weighed 256 pounds. I was depressed and drinking excessively. About 2 years ago, at 27, I decided to make a change. I quit drinking, and shortly after, I quit smoking.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I didn’t want to be like that any more. After I quit drinking and smoking, I was looking for some type of “hobby” to do. I took up running and lost a good amount of weight. At one point I got down to 182, but I was still unhappy with how I looked. I was the lightest I had ever been, but my mid section was flabby and my arms looked like a stick figure. I looked a lot like a snowman. The dreaded “skinny fat.” I looked pretty good with my shirt on, but I would not take it off. I decided that I needed to build some muscle. That was maybe semi-successful, but then I started going to the gym regularly and eating everything in sight, because that’s what all these body building sites tell you to do. My girlfriend and I now joke about my “bulking” phase. Once I figured out nutrition, and eating right, I was golden. I just kept Pressing Play and following the diet plan. Now, here I am, day 90 and amazed with the results!

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
I think my greatest challenge before was not knowing what I needed to be doing in the gym or with my nutrition. You can’t just lift a dumbbell and get a six-pack. The videos are like having a workout buddy that’s guiding you through the program. You don’t need to think about what you need to do because you know what you’re doing the next day (or for the next 90 days for that matter). It takes the guesswork out of the equation. Then, all you have to do is keep your end of the bargain, press play, and stay dedicated. There wasn’t one day for me where I had a doubt that I wouldn’t finish. I was nervous, but 100% confident that I would not fail, because I wouldn’t allow myself to.

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
The results I got with the program have been mind blowing. I went into the program telling people “Hey, I’m going to have a 6 pack in 3 months.” They laughed. I smiled because I knew in a few months they would be wishing they had done the program when I asked them too!

I also didn’t run for the entire program. On the last day, I decided to go out and see what my 5k time was. My previous best 5k time in a race  was 24:46. I went out for a run and pushed myself, but nothing crazy, and managed to run my 5k loop in 22:37. A whopping 2 min faster than my personal best in a race!

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
When I eat clean, I’m always very conscious of what goes in my mouth. Veggies, tuna, chicken, sweet potato, lots of Greek yogurt, Shakeology, etc., but I always remember that there are substitutes for everything. My favorite meal is chicken & broccoli alfredo, which is not the best if you have it “normal” but I have it with grilled chicken, steamed broccoli,  Alfredo sauce made from Greek yogurt, spaghetti squash (instead of pasta), and then a low carb flatbread with low-fat cheese melted between. That’s just an example, but I love making and bringing my food to work because I know what I’m eating. That’s something you can’t get from a restaurant.

How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product support your transformation?
Shakeology is one amazing product for sure. I have it every day for breakfast and it feels like a cheat meal. I mean, who doesn’t want a chocolate frappe for breakfast?? It most definitely has eliminated my cravings for carbs and sweets. I honestly think it played a huge factor in how I handled the nutrition portion of the program. There was never an excuse to not have a healthy breakfast, lunch, or dinner for that matter. I’d drink it for every meal if I could!
