Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before I started P90X I was miserable, had absolutely no confidence and worried about what everyone was thinking when they looked at me. I was scared to do normal everyday things, and suffered from anxiety. I hated to look in the mirror at myself, and what I had become. I was a severely overweight 25 year old man who was scared to walk out the front door every morning because of the way I looked, and felt.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
When I started to lose my breath from normal tasks, like tying my shoes and going up stairs, was the real eye opener. I decided that enough was enough. It was time for a drastic change in almost every aspect of my life. I was in pretty good shape 4 years ago, and I knew I had what it took to get back there. I knew it was going to take a lot of hard work and sacrifice, but I decided to commit 100% to P90X, the nutrition guide, and just kept Pressing Play.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
The greatest challenge I faced before starting P90X was beating myself up over what I had let happen to my body, and how I let it get the way it was. I would constantly binge eat and make myself sick because of how I felt. I felt depressed almost everyday when I woke up. It affected me in every aspect of my life and was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. Being overweight held me back from a lot of things that I would have done otherwise, if I was in shape. P90X, and the Team Beachbody community, have given me an entirely new and positive outlook on life. I take every opportunity that is given to me and I make the most of it with my head held high. I not only have my body back but also my confidence and happiness. I am forever grateful for this physical and mental transformation.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I love the idea and concept of muscle confusion. It never gives your body the chance to catch up and adapt so you’re constantly moving and changing which in return you get real results. I also love that Tony Horton tells you it’s OK to start out with doing what you can when you start and that the most important thing to remember is to do your best and forget the rest! But, at the same time, he is pushing you and motivating you to keep going and keep pushing through. One of the most important things to remember about a transformation is that Rome was not built in a day!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
The results that I got from P90X are exactly what I expected if I put in the time and work required to achieve the body I knew I was capable of getting. I lost 51.2 Pounds, went from 35.8% Body Fat down to 21.8%, and lost almost 30 inches off my body. I went from wearing a very tight size 42 waist pants down to now a very comfortable Size 34. The best part about losing all that weight is fitting back into your favorite clothes! Trust me it’s one of the best feelings in the world. If you eat clean, and exercise, there’s no way you can’t get the body of your dreams!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I am the happiest I’ve been in a long long time. I am doing things I otherwise wouldn’t have even thought about doing before. I have recently gotten into running and I am so happy I did. When I was overweight and tried to run I would get shin splints after about 30 seconds, and would have to stop immediately. I am now running 5K races almost every weekend and loving every second of it. I am achieving goal after goal because of the way I feel now. I have the most energy I’ve ever had in my life and can’t wait to start another round of P90X!
