Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before I started my first Beachbody program, I hated my body. I hated looking in the mirror, and seeing myself made me cry. I would hide behind big clothes, and had no self-confidence. I was always tired and sluggish. I was not active, and all I ate were processed foods. I just felt gross and ashamed of myself. I tried numerous times to lose weight but always failed. I would find every excuse to not make it to the gym. I would find an excuse to not eat healthy. It was always “tomorrow or next week I will start.” I had no support and no motivation. I also suffered with anxiety and depression. I look back and I feel like I was in a deep hole then. I had a wonderful husband, four children, and a roof over my head; a wonderful life. However, I was unhappy and that drowned out the happiness going on around me.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My husband was sending me to Vegas for my 30th birthday with a friend. This friend is a fit person. She text messaged me a month before we left about sitting poolside with drinks and relaxing. I immediately had an anxiety attack with the thought of sitting next to her in a bathing suit. I have always felt self-conscious about my weight and body, but I never found it in me to do anything about it. That day, it completely changed. I realized if I wanted to feel better, I needed to do something about it. She completely changed my life with one little text message. I continue to be inspired each day by my Coach, Challenge Groups, and all of the Beachbody challengers who posted their journeys. Seeing others be successful toward their goals helps keep me going.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
Motivation and support were my greatest challenges before the program. Also, not knowing how to lose the weight and be healthy was a challenge. I thought I would forever be stuck with a “mom” body. Shaun T and Beachbody changed my life! I learned how to work out. I learned how to eat better. His approach motivated me and made me look forward to working out. I learned how to eat healthy with the Beachbody website meal plans and recipes. I now have numerous people I have met through Beachbody that I know I can reach out to for that motivation and support. Without them, I don’t think I would have made it as far as I am now. I am a mom to four children and a husband who is in the military and barely home, so being able to work out at home makes my life so much easier and healthier! I now walk around with confidence. I may not have a perfect body, but I have worked extremely hard to get where I am.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
Shaun T! The way he motivates to keep going helped me so many times go that extra few seconds. I felt like he was right there with me helping me. I also liked the food plan. It helped me stay on track nutritionally and that used to be a big struggle for me.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
My first thoughts went straight to the weight and body fat I’ve lost. Those are obvious when you look at my “before” and “after” pictures. However, my biggest achievement I am proud of is nonphysical in a way. The first day I pressed play, I paused the program numerous times and cried. It was the hardest thing I had ever done. I had thought of quitting, and was kicking myself for purchasing it. I didn’t quit though; I continued to press play for 119 days. Also, never in my life have I had muscle definition. I must admit I catch myself in the mirror quite often flexing!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
My life has been a complete 180 since starting my Beachbody program. I have a completely different outlook on life. I am so much happier and confident, and I feel like it shows! I walk around with confidence every day. This has been so much more than a physical transformation. I feel like I not only got healthier physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. I stopped taking anxiety medicine four weeks into the program.o I have grown as a person, and I didn’t think that was possible.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
My Challenge Group was a huge help with accountability. To be surrounded with other people who had the same mindset as me was such a huge help.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
She has been amazing. For me, it was words of encouragement that helped me push through. Seeing her motivation and drive helped my own and kept me going. To know that there is someone there cheering me on and wanting me to succeed makes me feel good.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
I was skeptical when it came to Shakeology, and didn’t try it until my second month. I do notice a huge difference in my energy, especially when I don’t drink it.† I love that when I have a craving for chocolate, which happens quite often, I can throw together a shake and feed that craving in a healthy way.
