Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I felt like garbage, and not just simple garbage, like smelly, rotten, filled to the top garbage. I decided to eat 50% good, and 50% bad. I just completed 21 Day Fix before Christmas and New Years, so I was ready to celebrate. And it was the holiday week that I was feeling the most disgusted: bloated, groggy, chubby, depressed, and overall, upset that I let my results go down the drain in a matter of days! But after all was said and done, it was time for me to take back control of my life, my health, and set an example for my friends, my family, and overall, myself.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I was sick and tired of being upset/depressed at the person I saw in the mirror. I would constantly put myself down: “you’re fat, you look like crap, nobody wants to hang out with you.” I have a lot of friends, and I put on a good mask to hide my emotions. But I was tired of not sharing my change with others. So I took the leap to finally do the advanced program of MAX:30 since my friends already knew I completed INSANITY years ago.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
The greatest challenge was time! I had time for 30 minutes a day. But with my job as a Registered Behavior Technician, working with kids with severe autism, my weekends working as a Headliner/Emcee for weddings, and teaching my fitness classes, I was having a difficult time feeling motivated to complete the program. With the help and support of my team, the challengers in our Challenge Group, and a desire to say, “I was able to do the damn thing!” That was enough for me. It was only 30 minutes! I could push play first thing in the morning and that would stop all my “afternoon/evening” excuses… and I was glad I did that!
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I loved that it was INSANITY: My soulmate program, turned into only 30 minutes! Not the moves and the complexity of it, but the way Shaun T really inspires through my screen. Just like INSANITY, this was more than a workout. This was a life-changing program. To break mental barriers; to teach you how to overcome your excuses, your mental barriers… and just get it done!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
My goal was simple: I just wanted to get under 205 lbs. I was tired of bouncing between 218 lbs and 210 lbs. I wanted to see what would happen if I stuck to the entire program, and ate right 80% of the time. It was not the scale that shocked me, but the fact that halfway through the program, I had to buy new pants for work. And by the time I was at the end of the program, the size 34 pants were even too big! I was most proud that I was able to finish it. The amount of growth I had mentally is insane. Little “excuses” I used to have, I no longer have; I have a drive to motivate myself every day, and wake up feeling good about my day because of MAX:30 and Shaun T!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I have become a role model to many more of my friends and family. Since the move back to PA, I’ve connected with more people. They watched me struggle, and they watched me succeed in this. I was able to share these results with a local gym and told them my goal is to inspire anyone looking for guidance/motivation. With my BeachbodyLIVE certifications, they gave me a shot after seeing my photos, and now I am the trainer in Harrisburg, PA. I love what doors this has opened for me!
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Being in the Challenge Group, I was able to find the support and the motivation to keep going. I was on a mission to help others, and with them posting regularly, it motivated me to post regularly.
How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
Sheryl checked in with me regularly. At least weekly, we talked about my goals, and she helped me get over hurdles that popped up. She mentioned that MAX:30 was not a program for her, but to be there for me was truly amazing.
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology® or Beachbody Ultimate Reset®) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
Shakeology was what I needed to keep fueling my body. I used it as my meal replacement since my schedule with my autism took time away from eating. You could call it my, “saving grace” when I needed it most.
