Meet Siobhan B. She lost 41 lbs with a variety of Beachbody programs. She entered her results into The Beachbody Challenge, and won the $500 Daily Prize for April 2nd!
Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
As an adult, I struggled with my weight. College was full of fast food and late nights studying. Then I married my high school sweetheart who was on track for a career in Naval Aviation. The Navy made for a stressful life, and we moved about every year in the first four years of training. When we finally were settled for a longer stretch somewhere, we were immediately faced with a deployment. During those 7 months, I spent a lot of time working then would run or go to the gym. I counted calories and even used a food delivery service so I wouldn’t have to cook. I lost 30 lbs during those 7 months, but I never found balance with food or workouts, and I still wasn’t comfortable in my own skin. Then as soon as he came home, I got pregnant. I planned on keeping up with running and working out, but that changed when I rotated my SI joint and couldn’t do anything.1 After I had my son I was determined to get back to my pre-pregancy weight but I was just not able to go to the gym like I use to.4
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My son was my reason I needed to change my life. Not only did I need to get stronger to keep my SI joint injury from flaring up, I needed to be in better shape so I could keep up with him and be his role model, I needed to start eating better so that when it was time for him to start eating dinners with us I wasn’t making separate meals because Mom didn’t eat veggies, but you need too.1 I needed to make a change in my life so that he could have the best start in life and not worry about eating well and nutrition when he got older, it would all be second nature for him to make the good choices.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
My biggest challenge has always been my nutrition. I didn’t eat veggies and everyone in my family use to tease me that if it was green, they knew I wouldn’t eat it. I also struggled with my injury. I needed to build up strength and flexibility in my lower back/hamstring/abs to keep it from flaring up. I’ve completed several programs that each helped me with different things that allowed me to get where I am today. Slim in 6 gave me a great fitness foundation to start, Brazil Butt Lift kept it fun and light (and worked off some booty!), ChaLEAN Extreme taught me how to properly lift weights, TurboFire increased my running speed and endurance and allowed me to complete an under 2 hour half marathon, P90X and P90X3 increased my strength and gave my husband and I something to do together, 21 Day Fix really taught me even more at what I should be eating, and PiYo increased my flexibility in my lower back and hamstrings to make my injury hurt even less.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I liked Slim in 6 because I think anyone can do the program no matter your starting fitness level and it’s still challenging. I liked Brazil Butt Lift because it was fun and I could actually feel my bum getting stronger – it was always sore! I loved ChaLEAN because I felt so strong after lifting the heavy weights, and Chalene was so motivating that I never got tired and always wanted to come back the next day and push play. I loved TurboFire, not only because I got to see more of Chalene, but it was short, intense, and got the job done! It felt fun and I wanted to keep going back for more! I liked P90X and X3 because it increased my strength to levels I never thought was possible. I loved 21 Day Fix because it helped me focus on my biggest struggle and I learned so much that I’ll use forever! I loved PiYo because I knew I needed flexibility training, but I hated yoga.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
Because of the combination of all the programs I’ve done, I’ve become comfortable in my own skin for the first time ever. I’ve become stronger, healthier, and more tuned into how my body feels when it’s healthy.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I’m proud of my new body, but I’m also proud of how far I’ve come from being a junk food junkie, eating too much fast food, too much sugar, and no veggies, into a clean eater who lives in balance with food. I’m happy not just because of my weight loss, but because I truly have become healthy, from the inside out. I can play with my son without hurting my back or getting tired. Beachbody has been a blessing and has allowed me to live my life rather than watching it pass me by. Before I started, I knew that what I saw in the mirror was not who I was. Looking at the before pictures when I first took them was hard. I couldn’t face who I’d become. That wasn’t me. That wasn’t what I saw when I looked in the mirror. Now when I look at them, I can’t even remember that person in the picture. I honestly did start to tear up looking back at them. In my mind, that wasn’t me. Now, I am proud of everything I’ve accomplished and I wouldn’t change a thing.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
The Challenge Groups kept me accountable and I also learned so much from everyone in them. I learned about foods, new recipes, and got motivation exactly when I needed it. I wouldn’t have gotten the results as fast as I did without a Challenge Group. They kept me going every day — pushing me, teaching me, and inspiring me to be better — not perfect, just better than I was the day before.
How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
Sommer checked in with me weekly when I first started and gave me the tools I needed. She always answered my questions when I had them. She gave me meal guides, tips for success, but most importantly encouraged me to keep pushing myself.

I noticed that after a month my sweet cravings were curbed and I could no longer eat things with a lot of sugar without getting a headache and feeling awful.
