Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I have always been athletic and competitive. The past year I’d been overweight but the holidays just made it very hard to keep discipline and get any exercise. The result was feeling very lethargic and depressed because I was even having trouble tying my shoes and groaning sitting down and getting up from the couch!
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I was truly sick of the weight and ready to try something different. I had always gone to the gym to work out or go outside. Obviously with a family now, and the weather not always being permitting, I needed to make other plans. So I disciplined myself and started doing my workouts with Tony Horton at 6 am every day (sometimes Sunday too) and watching my diet like a hawk!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
Personal discipline and long-term health have been my biggest challenges. I need to be healthy for my wife and daughter since I’m 40 and have a toddler and my wife has her own health issues, requiring me to be in top shape for them. Team Beachbody has truly inspired me to push myself out of the normal routine and think outside the box when it comes to working out and daily discipline.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I thought P90 was perfect for me since I couldn’t just run (like I’d used to) since I had so much weight I was afraid I would hurt myself. The balance of weights and cardio, along with the scaled difficulty (A, B, C) was perfect, and allowed me to customize to even challenge myself more.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
For me, it’s obvious. I weighed 200 pounds at the beginning of the year. As of today (90 days later) I’ve lost nearly 45 pounds of fat while keeping the lean muscle and improving my overall health. It’s obvious to all my colleagues, family, and friends. I feel great, and I’m inspiring my family and friends to follow my example.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I still love running, playing ultimate frisbee and other things. Just the performance boost from the all-around workouts feels so good! The lethargy is gone: I often wake up refreshed before my alarm clock goes off, ready for my workout. Thanks to the Beachbody videos, I’m expanding my fitness goals for my next challenge! Run faster! Jump higher! Run a 10K in less than 45 minutes! To me the possibilities are endless. Can’t wait to start my next 90 day challenge!
