Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Well, I’ve always been heavy. At my heaviest weight, I was about 220 lbs., and the lowest in recent years I’ve been about 188. I mainly stayed around 200 lbs. When I started INSANITY I was 194 lbs. I’m a outdoor worker whose job involves a lot of walking. My job was probably the only thing keeping my weight from going up because my eating habits certainly weren’t. I rarely ate breakfast, and if I did, it was a cereal bar or fast food, nether of which were good choices to help me start my day. So by the time I’d finish work, I was hungry and would make more bad fast food decisions. I probably ate fast food at least 4 times a week and more than once on some days. I came to realize that this was affecting me physically, and a change had to be made. Though I didn’t suffer from health problems, I knew I eventually would. I never really felt bad about my appearance/body though I’ve never been confident/comfortable with going shirtless at the pool or beach.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I knew that my eating habits were taking a major toll on my body. The path I was taking was leading me down a road of medical issues that I wanted no part of. On a Saturday morning I was laying in the bed, watching the infomercial for INSANITY, and decided that I had enough. I was tired of thinking about improving my life, I wanted to actually make a change. I was 29 years old and wanted to leave the unhealthy decisions behind. My motto was “I want to be better at 30 than I was at 29.” What better way to do that than to make a major lifestyle change and never look back?
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
The challenge I had before the program was deciding on a program that not only worked but was something I could stick to. As I mentioned before, the biggest challenge I faced was changing my eating habits. I was a horrible eater. I work a job that requires a lot of walking and can build up a big appetite. Instead of making good choices, I continuously made bad choices. I would eat fast food multiple times in a day, and on a daily basis I would eat candy. It took a while for me to fully adjust, but I knew that I wanted to improve my body from the inside out. The INSANITY schedule made it easy for me to stay on track with my workouts, and the Nutrition Guide has helped me become a clean eater. I have committed to a lifestyle change, and I plan on living up to this commitment.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
No equipment needed. With the schedule, I know exactly what to do day-in and day-out, and it helps me to stay on track. I also like the Nutrition Guide. I like how INSANITY is honest. You’re told up front it’s tough, and it is, but I like that about it. Max:30 brought a different intensity level. The new moves are great, and I like getting it done in 30 mins, with few breaks.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I’ve lost over 20 plus pounds in 63 Days of INSANITY. I’ve gone from a size 36 paints to a size 32, as well gone from a size 42 suit jacket to a 38. My T-shirt size has gone from an XL to a M. I’m proud of the work and commitment I’ve put into this program. I’ve completed a second round of INSANITY, and have lost more inches. It’s has become a habit now so no reason to stop. T25 has helped me build up more endurance and stamina. It has strengthened not only my core, but has given me all around strength. P90X3 has helped me to build my upper body strength and has made me more flexible. INSANITY MAX:30 has helped me to continue to tone and to build my endurance.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I feel better mentality, physically, and I feel better about my appearance which I’ve come to realize I wasn’t very happy with. I have more energy. My daily activities are easier to accomplish, especially my job. I’m happy I’ve been able to eat cleaner and stay away from fast food. Many friends have noticed my changes and have been motivated to try Beachbody programs, as well as make needed adjustments in their lives. I’m happy to have made this lifestyle change.
