Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I’ve had issues with my weight pretty much since I can remember. Not necessarily what would be considered obese, just a little chunky. I had success with dieting before, but it didn’t last because I found myself slipping back to my old habits. I also had a hard time with exercise. I just didn’t want to do it. I wasn’t happy with the way that I felt. I was also tired of trying to hide my muffin top.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I had begun trying to get some exercise routinely a couple of months before I started P90X3. But, I found I just wasn’t making any progress. Then my brother, and Coach, started 21 Day Fix a little over a month before I started P90X3. I watched him drop 40 pounds like magic. He asked if I would be interested in starting P90X3. I debated it for about 3 seconds before I said yes.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
My challenge was mostly mental. I had a goal to get healthy, but I had to overcome my love of fried foods and my distaste of exercise. My commitment was challenged a couple of times. I’ve found it is very difficult to find excuses to not exercise when the workout is only 30 minutes. I’ve also found I usually feel better when I do workout. I can’t express what it meant to me when I did my 1st “real people” pushup! When I started, I couldn’t get off my knees. Now, I can do 40, and I’m aiming for more. This program has helped me feel better about the way I look, and made me feel healthier than I ever have. I’m not done yet, but I know that I will reach my overall goal of being fit!
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I lost about 20 pounds with P90X3. I’m the thinnest I’ve ever been. Yet the thing I’m proudest of myself is not the weight I’ve lost, nor is it making it through the entire 90 days without quitting. It was the decision to start in the 1st place. I had every opportunity to cheat. I could have easily decided to take a day off. But, I made that decision to get healthy. That commitment helped me say no to those brownies. It pushed me through “that one workout.”
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I definitely have more energy. I feel healthier, happier, and my morning self looks less like an extra from The Walking Dead.
