Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before I started Body Beast, I had really let my body go. My eating habits were horrible, and my workout routines were dull and boring. They had become static, and I had gotten into a plateau of routine without results. I would look in the mirror and not see any muscular size, definition, or abs. My friends all felt I looked healthy but not me. I felt soft and lumpy.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I had done P90X years ago when my son was three years old. He’s nine now. He remembered my workouts where I “jumped over the alligators” for the plyometrics workout. I wanted my son and daughter (she’s almost six) to have a happy and healthy dad. I wanted to set a good example and be a healthy role model for them. I wanted my kids to be proud of their dad, and view me as their rock of strength. I still have the P90X DVDs but I wanted something more this time. I wanted to lift heavier and harder than I had done in a long time. I wanted some size but also tone.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My greatest challenge were my abs and diet. I had given myself every excuse on why I couldn’t have six-pack abs. I told myself it was hereditary to have a belly. I told myself that I have abs, but they’re just under skin and not fat. I told myself I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I ran a few miles sometime during the week or lifted weights. They were really dumb excuses. Body Beast gave me back the plan and determination to change my body and my life. I started working out harder. Beast Cardio made me want to puke the first time I did it. I wanted more. I wanted to start eating cleaner and healthier. I started my kids on eating chicken and broccoli, and more vegetables. They got into the workouts with me, and would do lunges and hold the stability ball for me when I wasn’t using it. It became a family affair with working out and eating right. I felt so accomplished knowing that my kids were getting a healthy dad.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I loved Body Beast because it challenged me with lifting heavy and included the stability ball. I never thought I’d like the stability ball instead of a bench, but it works great! It pushes you to really work your core and maintain proper lifting form. I loved the workouts with the change from Dynamic Sets to Drop Sets to Force Sets. I loved the challenge of increasing the weight as you decreased reps.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
Body Beast added some size to my chest and arms. My arms and shoulders are more defined, and have the veins popping out, even at rest. I get compliments from my longtime friends that haven’t seen me in awhile. They say my neck looks more muscular too. I’m most excited about having some ab definition. I’ve never seen a glimmer of abs before, and now I have people tell me that they can see my abs. I still have a long way to go and continue to look forward to the challenge of having super ripped abs!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
Since completing Body Beast, I feel stronger and eat healthier. I now have much better confidence to take my shirt off on a hot summer day. I fill out shirts better now, and look much better dressed up for work in slacks and a dress shirt. I eat so much healthier now and actually enjoy eating cleaner. I have better will power to say no to bread at a restaurant. My kids now view me as a superhero. They have also become more active by joining football and gymnastics. I’m so proud of my kids, and glad they have a healthy dad to continue to watch them grow.
