Meet Michael F., age 50 from Las Vegas, NV. He entered The Beachbody Challenge in October 2014 and won $1,000!
Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I had no energy and no self-esteem. If I had gone to a doctor, I would more than likely would have been diagnosed with a variety of diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression. I couldn’t breathe, and I did not sleep well.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My father died at 53. His first heart attack was his only heart attack. I was on the same path. It was a matter of life or death, and I wasn’t done living yet.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
My greatest challenge was not giving up on myself. I have quit on myself many times over my life. I even gave up on being a Beachbody coach the first time around. I know that Beachbody works so I came back, and I am never giving up on anything ever again.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
Tony is my main man, and my hero. I started my weight loss journey with 10-Minute Trainer; I figured even I could do 10 minutes a day. I love the 30 minute workouts of P90X3, I can easily get them into my schedule.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I have abs! And people are noticing! I can do things I have never done before. I had an impingement in my shoulder, and my doctor wanted me to go to therapy 3 days a week and possibly have surgery. Pressing play every day was all the therapy I needed, and my shoulder is 99% pain free. I ran 3 half marathons and a full marathon in the last 2 years, and I’m getting read for another half next month!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I am sleeping better. I have more energy. I no longer desire junk food. I look forward to exercise. When I finish my workout for the day, I am trying to figure out how I can get more exercise done. I got rid of 70 pounds, and more importantly, I’m keeping it off!
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
The Challenge Groups are a fantastic support system and a treasure trove of information. I see that I am not the only one going through this journey, and many of my obstacles are shared by others in the group. Together we overcome those obstacles and we reach our goals.
How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
My coach is amazing, I’m am thankful I found her! She knows just what buttons to push to keep me going. Listening to her guidance, my life has improved on so many levels.
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology® or Beachbody Ultimate Reset®) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
I have to have my Shakeology! It is my mid-morning boost that gets me through the day. I look forward to my Shakeology all morning, then I am sad that I have to wait another day to have it again! Shakeology helped me to lose my weight, and now I use it to stay at my goal.2
How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program affect any existing health conditions you have?
I went to the doctor for my annual check up. I had to get all those tests you get when you turn 50. All of my results were by the book, and the doctor said I have the cholesterol of a 20 year old!
