Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I have wanted to lose weight for a really long time, and I love to do active things like hiking, camping, and swimming. Sadly, I have not been able to do a lot of those activities for a while, and I have lived a fairly sedentary lifestyle. I constantly felt fat and yucky.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My wife decided to become a Beachbody Coach, and I wanted to support her. Since I wanted to lose weight anyway, I went all in with her.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My biggest challenges were that I struggled to make time for working out and didn’t really know what would be a good workout. I also ate portions that were too large. With the Beachbody programs, I don’t have to worry about not doing the right workout, because it is made by professionals. Also, as I began to see success, I was encouraged to keep eating better. I used Shakeology every morning, which helped me curb my appetite.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I did PiYo. I loved that it focused on stretching and still gave me a good workout. I also liked that there was really no jumping, because we live on a second story of an apartment building.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I am proud that I can stand with straight legs and bend at my waist to touch the floor. I have never in my entire life been able to do that, even as a kid. I feel good, and as I keep saying to people, “it feels good to feel good.” I have not stopped eating all bad things, because I want a “diet” that I could stick to and live with. But I have been eating everything in moderation and trying to make healthier choices, and I like it.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I am told by family and friends that I look like I lost weight, and that they can see it in my face. I am wearing clothes that I haven’t been able to wear for a long time. It all gives me the encouragement to keep going.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
We were supposed to post pictures and descriptions of our meals, workouts, etc., every day. It helped me continue to think about my progress every day. Some days I was not as diligent as other days at eating right or putting my all into the workout. Then, when I posted that night, I felt that I needed to give it my all the next day. Or, as I was thinking about what I would have to post, I got the motivation to work out hard.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
My Beachbody Coach was very supportive of me all the time by providing me with encouragement and positive compliments.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
I had Shakeology daily in the morning, and I felt that my hunger was under control until lunchtime. On a couple of occasions, I did not have Shakeology in the morning, and I felt a bit scatterbrained those mornings. I know that that was at least in part due to not having Shakeology.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program affect any existing health conditions you have?
I have no existing health conditions, but I did recently hurt my knee a little bit from a different workout program that my wife and I tried before Beachbody. My knees felt great the whole month that I worked out.
