Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I have tried for many years to lose weight, but I was always on a rollercoaster of weight loss and weight gain. After two kids and more weight fluctuation, I finally got tired of having no energy and feeling like I had no willpower over my eating. I needed a change so that I could have the body and health I wanted.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I joined a choir in which many of my friends are athletes. They were happy and healthy in their 20s while I felt like I was 10 years older. I hated that feeling but thought I was too busy and too helpless to make that change. Once I was successful with the 21 Day Fix program, I needed a new program and decided to get stronger with the 22 Minute Hard Corps program.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
When I started the 22 Minute Hard Corps program, I was in good shape with 21 Day Fix, but really wanted to push myself to the limits and get fit. I could do some push-ups, but no pull-ups, and my endurance was still lacking. The encouragement from Tony Horton on the screen and consistent exercises really helped me learn how to get strong and lean, helping me lose weight, but more importantly, helping me realize that I can do what I thought was impossible.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I really loved the core exercises. Everything was so tough, but after doing just 22 minutes, I always felt like I did so much work. I could feel my waist tightening and my clothes loosening all the time. It was amazing. I also did the Hell Week Challenge at the end of the program and thought it was tough. I was able to do it and stick with the people on the screen — something I thought would be impossible that first week.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I am completely amazed with my transformation since starting Beachbody! Just doing 22 Minute Hard Corps, I lost 15.4 lbs. and 20.5 inches! Overall, I have lost 41.6 lbs. and 35.75 inches in five months! I have had to completely overhaul my wardrobe, because I am half the size I was at Christmas. People tell me I look 10 years younger, and I definitely feel that — especially since I’m now wearing clothes I haven’t been able to fit in to for 10 years.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
The lifestyle changes I have made since beginning my Beachbody journey are wonderful. I have so many more healthy recipes I enjoy making. I purchased a bicycle that I have been riding often for recreation, in addition to the workouts I’ve been doing daily. I also have been more active with my children, who look forward to “mommy’s exercises.” I’ve been more confident being in front of the camera, instead of just behind it, and have also branched out to do more active pursuits like yoga, salsa dancing, and (soon) rock climbing. I’ve realized that all these things I used to wish I could do are things that I can do and am actively pursuing new and better goals.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
The accountability and support were awesome! We shared photos, stories, recipes, and really worked to lift each other up. It was so needed and helpful to accomplishing my short- and long-term goals.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
Caroline encourages me every step of the way, not just in my weight loss but in life in general. She continually gives me motivation and advice to make my programs easier, and lives the walk she talks. I look forward to her encouragement and advice all the time.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
I look forward to Shakeology daily. I really notice a difference when I drink it post-workout, because it really helps more than anything to bring back my energy and keep me from feeling so sore later. As someone who used to love Starbucks lattes and frappuchinos, I really enjoy being able to make my own coffee shakes and spending the money on something that will make me healthier.
