Beachbody Results: Sheri Has Muscles Now and Loves Them!

Sheri Lausen lost 52 lbs. with a variety of Beachbody programs. She participated in The Beachbody Challenge and won the $500 Daily Prize for August 15!
Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I was always at a healthy weight prior to having kids, but with each of my four children I suffered from Postpartum Hypothyroidism.4 I would get hyperthyroid, lose a bunch of weight, then go hypothyroid and then gain it all back plus some. I became very unhappy and found reason after reason to celebrate with food. I blamed my thyroid and kids for my obesity, and it even took a toll on my marriage.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
With the weight gain, came the bigger pant sizes. I eventually had to start looking for Size 18 jeans, but realized you can’t find those in “normal” stores. I cried as I went from each store to find jeans, but no luck after five stops. I didn’t want to be unhealthy and not be able to keep up with my kids. I wanted to set an example and be a role model to them. I wanted to feel hot in front of my husband and confident in front of others. I noticed my friend posting something about Shakeology and that’s when I was ready to give in and ask a friend for help.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program?
Realizing how worthy I am to put my health on the top of my priority list was hard. I was told in 2008 when I was getting a follow up VA appointment after exiting the Air Force that I had a degenerative thinning disc in my lower back.3 The pain was substantial at first during my workouts, so overcoming that and trusting if I just did my best even in modification mode it was possible. I started by drinking Shakeology every day and committing to 3 days a week workouts with TurboFire, Brazil Butt Lift, or sometimes just walking. The biggest motivation was seeing my own results as I shed 10 pounds per month the first 3 months, and with my back pain decreased. I couldn’t believe how great I felt, how the feelings of sadness disappeared, and that it wasn’t my thyroid or back stopping me from goals. It was my mind.
Which achievements are you proud of?
While the weight I lost was significant alone, I am mostly proud of the endurance and strength I’ve built. I love having muscles now! I recently ran my first 5K and 10K, because of the energy I have to push myself further. Anyone that knows me from before would tell you I hated running, yet I feel amazing doing it now.
