Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Prior to starting my fitness journey, I was weak physically and mentally. Since I’m asthmatic, I would feel exhausted and winded anytime I tried to exercise.3 I wasn’t eating properly and would binge on junk food most of the time. All of this led me to a wrong path. I used to weigh 130 pounds at age 26. But by age 29, I had gained 20 pounds and was weighing 150 pounds. At first, I wasn’t too concerned about the amount of weight I had gained and thought there was no issue, but then I realized that mostly what I had gained was fat. That opened my eyes, and looking out-of-shape hit my confidence. I wanted to regain my strength and lose the amount of weight that I unintentionally gained, but didn’t know where to start. My wife suggested to start working out, but I was using the excuse that her workout programs were too girly for me. I also thought that I couldn’t commit to eating healthier, or better than what I was doing. However, I had to for the sake of my two daughters, who I want to see grow.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
My amazing wife is who inspired me to take a leap of faith and commit to change. She works hard to live a better lifestyle and to stick to her workout program and nutritional plan. She wanted me to join her on her journey. She found out about the Body Beast program, and purchased it because she thought it would be a good fit for me. After giving it a lot of thought, I gave the program a shot, which eventually opened my eyes and made me realize that I was in the worst shape of my life. I stopped making excuses and grinded through it all. I built lean muscle while losing body fat. After completing a few rounds of Body Beast and seeing amazing results, I decided to continue this journey and bought The Master’s Hammer and Chisel. I completed one round of Hammer and Chisel, and I must say that the program helped me to get as ripped as I currently am.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
Nutrition has been the biggest challenge I have had, because I always considered myself a picky eater. I wouldn’t eat reheated food, big amounts of food, or visually unattractive food. I just used to indulge on junk food or food from specific restaurants that I liked. When I started the Body Beast program, I focused on eating better but not necessarily healthy. I cut out soda and most of the sweets. However, despite my small effort to do better and my body changing, I couldn’t see the results that I desired at a faster pace. It wasn’t until I found a Beachbody Coach that helped me understand the nutritional guidelines of the program, as well as the importance of eating better and being consistent. He taught me patience, because building muscles takes time. I also learned that I had to eat toward my goals, and that preparing the weekly meals will help me to keep my focus on these goals.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
With Body Beast, I love all the workouts, even the leg ones. The various techniques of weight training are awesome, but what I like the most about the program is that it gets you to your limits and beyond, especially when doing a “Progressive” or ” Force” set. No matter the workout, after completing one, the body part is left so pumped. Also, I like the fact that a person can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. With Hammer and Chisel, I love the mix of weight lifting and cardio. That provides a person with techniques to increase strength while losing weight rapidly. Also, the nutrition plan is easier to follow and reduces the chance to lose focus.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I went from 150 pounds, mostly in body fat, to as low as 140 pounds in muscular mass after completing three rounds of Body Beast. Then I went from 140 pounds to as low as 131 pounds after completing one round of Hammer and Chisel. During this journey, I have transformed my body from an average, unhealthy Joe, to a bodybuilder aficionado. I have overcome my pickiness for foods and learned to eat healthier. I have more confidence in myself. Now I look in the mirror and see a guy who is, and will continue to be, successful.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
Now that I have learned the importance of making better choices in order to have results, I know that I can help others to make changes in their lives. I value my body and don’t take for granted the results that I’ve achieved with hard work. I’m less winded when exercising. Also, I now am mentally healthy and proud of myself for committing and sticking to do better through this path so I can keep enjoying life with my family.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Seeing many others with the same mentality and challenges that I had kept me focused and motivated.

My Coach dialed in my nutrition plan and followed up with me to make sure I wasn’t struggling. He provided guidance and answered all my concerns and questions.
