Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
Before Beachbody, I was unhappy, lacked energy, and felt horrible overall. I have always been insecure but seeing myself overweight, getting ready to hit 40 years old, and not having enough energy to keep up with my kids made me depressed. I grew up in an Italian family where we ate bread with almost every meal and I always had a struggle with controlling my portions. I would eat my husband under the table and even though I made some good food choices I negated them with unhealthy choices more times than I like to admit.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I hated the way I looked and felt and wanted to be a better role model for my kids. I had recently lost my younger brother & father because they had not been taking care of themselves and I became unhappy. With that sadness; I was eating more, drinking wine every night, making very bad food choices and had a short fuse. About 2 months before my 40th birthday, I made the decision that in order to be there for my family I had to focus on my nutrition and fitness. I started with 1.5 rounds of the 21 Day Fix and 1 round of the FOCUS T25 Alpha & Beta workouts. In October, I decided to start training for a half marathon and had a lot of 5k races upcoming and had heard that PiYo was a great program to do for runners so I committed to that program as the next step in my fitness journey.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
My greatest challenge before beginning any of these programs was making right food choices, portion control, and finding the time to workout. Initially with the 21 Day Fix, it taught me what I should be eating to fuel my body and how much and helped me find time to workout since the workouts were only 30 minutes and I could do them from home. I initially decided to do FOCUS T25 as my next program because my husband was willing to do it with me but I quickly realized that I loved Shaun T and that he was able to help me increase my endurance for cardio with only 25 minutes a day and inspired me to start running. While FOCUS T25 gave me the endurance I needed for running faster and longer, PiYo gave me the flexibility and stretching that I needed to ensure I was injury free during running season.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
What I liked best about PiYo was that the workouts really helped keep my muscles and body in check during a long and hard running season! I also really enjoyed the variety of workouts and that they did not require weights so I could even take the workouts with me while traveling! I also really liked Chalene; she is so calming and motivating.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
The achievement that I was most proud of with PiYo was that I completed my first half marathon injury free and at a much faster pace than I thought I would accomplish. In addition, this program helped me maintain my weight and inches during the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s).
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
My life has completely changed! I make time to workout instead of making excuses of why I can’t workout typically at a minimum 5 days a week but most weeks I work out all 7 days. I also make sure I am eating the right foods and correct amount of those foods and drink my Shakeology everyday. I have also motivated my family to eat better, drink Shakeology and to get more active! I am much happier with how I feel and look! My energy has increased to a level that I never thought was possible and I am completely loving the my life and new lifestyle! Another added bonus is that I can keep up with my 3 year old son!
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Instead of being in a Challenge Group for only PiYo, it was a mix of people doing various workout programs. The group helped motivate me so much by people posting their workouts for the day which helped keep me accountable by also posting my pictures We also shared recipe ideas and reminded each other to drink our water. The group also just helped me feel part of a group and not alone in my journey. We pushed each other when needed and I could not have done it without them!

Amanda was the one that got me started on my journey and introduced me to Team Beachbody and my new found love of Coaching myself!

During PiYo, I was using Shakeology & Activit daily while taking E&E on my running days. With Shakeology, it helped increase my energy level, curb my junk food cravings and satisfied my sweet tooth! The Activit also helped increase my energy. The E&E was awesome in helping increase my endurance for my runs… I love it!2
