Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I was very active with Beachbody, but I injured my back playing sports back in January. I herniated two disks in my back, and was unable to do anything for several months.3 I was very unhappy, because I was getting out of shape and eating horribly.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I started to look at pictures of myself from previous years when I was in shape and I was determined to get back to where I was. I made a promise to myself that I would complete P90X3 in its entirety, including the yoga and Pilates workouts!
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
My biggest problems were that I had no flexibility and my back was always hurting me. I could not bend over and touch my toes; I could not do any pull-ups; and I had no energy. I was unhappy that I had lost all of the hard work I had put in last year, and really didn’t want to have to start this journey again. I saw the infomercial for P90x3 on Beachbody.com and told myself I could do 30 minutes a day. I started with Day 1, which was horrible (haha), and worked my way from there. After several times doing yoga and Pilates, all of a sudden, I had more flexibility and I noticed I didn’t have as much back pain. I went from going to the chiropractor twice a week to only once a month, and now that I am done, I have switched it to once every two months. I can now bend over and touch my toes, and I am virtually pain-free. It really is amazing.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
What I liked most was each workout is only 30 minutes. I get home late from working in NYC, and by the time I put my daughter to bed and eat dinner, I sometimes don’t work out until 10 PM. Knowing I can get a workout done in 30 minutes in my upstairs room made it so much easier for me to hit my goals.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
First off, the achievement I am most proud of is I am finally able to touch my toes (lol). Besides that, I can now do 25 pull-ups in a row and about 50 push-ups; I have a six-pack which comes in handy at the beach; but, most importantly, I am now pain-free!
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
Since completing Beachbody, I can actually play with my 18-month-old daughter and pick her up with no pain. Before, every time she wanted to play, I would have to stop because the constant bending over would be extremely painful. It was frustrating to have to stop and lay down for a few minutes, or ask my wife to pick her up for me, because I was unable to. It is so rewarding now that when I first come home from work every day, the first thing she does is run into my arms. I can pick her up, and give her a huge hug and kiss!
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
My Coach happens to be my wife, so every time I would be too lazy to work out, she would yell at me (lol). She also does most of the cooking in our household, so I can proudly say she is the main reason for my six-pack (haha).
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
I drink Shakeology every morning. I had to switch to Vegan Chocolate, because I realized the regular Chocolate was upsetting my stomach, but once I made the switch, boy did I notice a difference! I started to realize that even though I was working out late at night, I still had energy from drinking Shakeology in the afternoon.2 While all of my coworkers would run to the coffee room around 3 PM and complain of being exhausted, I would take out my shaker cup and be good to go from the rest of the afternoon and into the evening.
How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program affect any existing health conditions you have?
I herniated two disks in my back and had to see a chiropractor constantly for lower back pain. Since doing P90X3, I now only go once every two months and barely have any back pain.
