“Autumn’s Workouts Are No Joke”

Meet Dale C. He lost 29 lbs with P90 and 21 Day Fix EXTREME. He entered his results into The Beachbody Challenge, and won the $500 Daily Prize for July 10th!

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?

I’ve been using Beachbody programs as my main source of fitness for over 11 years. I was once a winner in a transformation contest in 2004 with Power 90. Unfortunately, I haven’t always stayed as fit and lean as I would like, so P90 was a good way to jump-start back into my routine in October 2014. I felt like I was pretty fit overall, but I was carrying to much body fat and that affected my energy, self-esteem, and confidence. Following P90, I did a short hybrid of P90, INSANITY, P90X3 and INSANITY MAX:30 for about 6 weeks, and then committed to 21 Day Fix EXTREME in April 2015, and have now finished two rounds. The eating plan of that program was a game changer for me, and helped me lose an additional 7 lbs of body fat. And Autumn’s workouts are no joke! I’ve built muscle doing 21 Day Fix EXTREME, which I did not expect. I’m getting close to my ideal body weight and body fat goals now. At age 50, I’m feeling fantastic and excited to see how much further I can advance my fitness!

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
Just looking in the mirror and pictures of myself. Especially the pictures. They always tell the true story. I’ve become lean before using Power 90, P90X and other Beachbody programs, but I let myself get too relaxed with unhealthy eating and inconsistent workouts again and was not happy with the way I looked and felt. I knew committing to a program would get me back in the game, and I already knew from prior experience that plugging myself into the program 100% would give me results.

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
When you eat a bunch of crap and don’t work out for a while, you lose all motivation to exercise, you have low energy, and you just want to keep eating sugar and crap. It’s a vicious cycle that keeps repeating itself, and is the main reason 2/3 of the nation is overweight and in poor fitness. So just making the decision and commitment is the hardest part. But once that is made, pushing play is pretty easy, and eating healthy is easy when you have healthy, tasty options. I resisted 21 Day Fix for a long time because I thought the eating plan looked complicated. But it actually made eating clean and healthy a lot easier for me. It was a game-changer! Shakeology definitely makes it easier too by getting optimal nutrition, in one meal, in just seconds a day. It saved me time, and it helped reduce my craving for sugar and other junk food because it is naturally sweet and delicious like a dessert to me.

What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I loved Tony Horton. He’s always been an inspirational trainer with a balanced full-body program. He’s motivational and funny. He is the trainer that started it all for me, and I still consider him my number 1 trainer. For 21 Day Fix EXTREME, I did not know what to expect. I was massively surprised that the Eating Plan was so much easier than I thought it would be. And incredibly surprised at how challenging Autumn’s workouts are. 21 Day Fix EXTREME is now among my favorite programs in the Beachbody library! I’m going to do a third round!

Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I lost 11 lbs total with P90, but I’m sure I gained a few lbs of muscle too. My strength gains were tremendous in terms of weight I could life, and numbers of push-ups and pull-ups. After that I hit a plateau for several weeks. I thought I was eating clean. I was counting calories, and macros, etc. but very little was changing other than I was still getting stronger in my workouts. Then 21 Day Fix EXTREME and the genius eating plan came along and knocked me down 6 lbs in the first 3 weeks, and then another 1 lb in the following round. I’m at a point now where my body is trading muscle for fat and the numbers on the scale are not nearly as important. Getting leaner is my greatest achievement so far. I’m not 100% where I want to be, but I’m getting very close! It is so hard for me. This eating plan (21 Day Fix) is the key element in helping me break the fat loss plateau.

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I’m more fit and ready to take on the next program. I definitely look better now, but still have a ways to go to get the body I want. Next up: 21 Day Fix EXTREME for a 3rd round to try and whittle more fat off the body! I have more energy and am happier in general. I love what Beachbody has created for us to get and stay fit. After just 2 rounds of 21 Day Fix, I have now developed a genuine habit of buying, choosing, and eating the right foods in the correct portions for my body’s needs. That is the lifestyle change most of us need!

How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
Participating in Challenge Groups is a great way to build motivation and commitment to a program, and it definitely helped me since I was the leader of my own group during this challenge. As the leader, I knew I needed to set the example, and I did not miss a day of workouts, and I ate clean and was the best example I could be for my challengers.

How did your Team Beachbody® Coach support you on your journey?
Traci has always been solid supporter and Coach for me, but even more so in areas of personal development and leadership. We both have been doing Beachbody programs for a long time now. She’s a solid example of maintaining a fit lifestyle who inspires me and encourages me to be the best version of myself both in fitness and all other areas of my life.

How did a Beachbody Supplement or Nutritional Product or Program (such as Shakeology® or Beachbody Ultimate Reset®) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, digestion/regularity?
I used Shakeology every day, often twice a day. The biggest benefit of that is that I get a quick healthy meal without having to spend time cooking or prepping food, and yet I know I’m getting the best possible nutrition I can get in a meal.
