Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I have been a big guy all my life. I have tried diet after diet and even pills to help me lose weight, and nothing worked. I found the 21 Day Fix program on TV one day, and a couple of people at work were wanting to start so I joined them. I hated the way I looked and how clothes never fit right. I always tried to hide how big I was. I never took my shirt off when swimming, because I was disgusted with how I looked and didn’t want others to see it. I was wanting a change for a long time. It was really hard to post pictures of my “before” and “after.” I never took my shirt off in front of people before my weight loss. It was because of reaching this goal that I felt comfortable in showing it off. It is a big deal!
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I was inspired by looking and being jealous of other guys who were skinny. I wanted to be like them and couldn’t get that way for a long time. I have been amazed at how the weight has come off and so easily. Also, I have been pre-hypertension for blood pressure and did not want to start taking pills for that. My results have taken me out of pre-hypertension.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
The biggest challenge was figuring out what to eat daily. With 21 Day Fix, I have been able to figure out what my body needs to fuel itself. Once I added the exercise and the eating, the weight came off. I love the fact that I can work out in the comfort of my home, and that the program has taught me to eat healthier. This has changed how I will eat for the rest of my life. This is not a fad diet I am on; it has truly changed everything for me.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I love the portion-control containers that came with 21 Day Fix, as well as the exercises. I love that it has taught me how to eat and that I can do the workouts in the comfort of my own home.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I have lost 90 lbs. since June 2015! I have never been this weight in my adult life. I can now fit into large shirts, which I have never been able to buy. I was in elementary school when my parents bought that size for me. My biggest achievement is that I have been able to stick to this and continue it for over 10 months. I am now helping others to get healthy.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
My life has changed because I have never been this size in my adult life. My blood pressure has come down, and I just feel great. I have so much more confidence in myself, and people are shocked to see me now. Just being able to go clothes shopping and have the wide selection of all the different styles is a big deal. It is hard for a lot of people to understand that.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
I took the Challenge Group seriously. I used it to my advantage to help me stay accountable. I was able to meet a good group of people who encouraged me during each challenge, and I was able to share what I had done previously. I started my first 21 days on my own. I did pretty well, but then I was introduced to the Challenge Group for support, and I think it helped me stay committed through all the challenges that I have done so far. The Groups helped with the support and accountability by having me show my food each day and share when I exercised.
How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
I started the first 21 days on my own and then was introduced to the Challenge Group and Shakeology for my second round. The Challenge Group helped support me and keep me accountable. Then I was told about the benefits of Shakeology and the opportunity to help others get healthy; I was sold. I needed both of those things to obtain my success, and I wouldn’t have gotten any of that if Julie never talked me into doing it.

Like I have said, I did my first 21 days without Shakeology, and I had to really work to stay committed to doing my workouts and eating right. When I started Shakeology on my second round, I found it helped with my energy, appetite, and cravings. I found while drinking the shakes I was able to go to work, come home, cook my meal, and then do my exercises before bed. That first round I had to really push myself into doing each day, and was amazed when after drinking the shake that it wasn’t hard to do with the energy I was getting. It helped that I had been losing weight as well.
