Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
I have always struggled with my weight my whole life. After giving birth to my 3rd child, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.3 For once in my life, I didn’t have to worry about my weight and what I ate because my metabolism was working overtime and I was finally “thin”. However, after giving birth to my 5th child, my thyroid levels returned to normal. I slowly gained weight over the years. At one point I weighed 239 pounds. I felt awful. My self esteem was low and I was always tired. I didn’t want to go out with friends because I was embarrassed of how I looked. I think I tried every diet out there from the Atkins Diet to Vitamin B shots to try to lose weight. I would lose some weight but eventually would gain it all back plus more.
What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
One day, I saw a photo of myself that my daughter took. I didn’t recognize myself. I decided at that moment that enough was enough. I have 5 beautiful children I wanted to see grow up and have families of their own. I was done with being unhealthy and overweight. That day, I went online and registered for a 5K and short mini triathlon a friend was doing. Since that day, I have completed a few 5ks, 10ks, 2 mini triathlons and a half marathon. However, I still struggled with my weight. I was on Facebook one day when I saw a friend’s post stating she was starting a Challenge Group for anyone who wanted to lose weight in only 21 days. I said why not and joined her Challenge Group. This was were I found the perfect fitness program for me: 21 Day Fix.
What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
The biggest challenge I had before starting the 21 Day Fix was eating healthy and smaller portions. I loved any restaurant that served large portions. I could eat a large meal and an hour later I would be hungry again. I loved bread of every kind and don’t even mention sweets/desserts. I would eat my dessert before my main course. I purchased the 21 Day Fix challenge pack. With 21 Day Fix, I learned how to eat healthier and smaller portions. I don’t feel deprived because I can eat carbs, treats, fruits and even drink wine. I don’t feel stressed or overwhelmed with the daily workouts because it’s only 30 minutes of exercises that anyone can do. I no longer crave “junk food”. I have more energy and feel great.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
With the 21 Day Fix, I didn’t feel deprived. I love that I can eat bread, eat out, and even have treats/desserts and still lose weight.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
After doing my first round of the 21 Day Fix, I lost 14.8 pounds. I felt awesome. I was so proud that I stuck to the fitness program. My self esteem is at an all time high. I have just completed my 3rd round of the 21 Day Fix and to date I have lost a total of 25.2 pound. I’m going to continue with the 21 Day fix until I reach my goal weight of 145 pounds.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I feel more confident. I feel like I can physically accomplish anything I set my mind too!
