21 Day Fix Results: Cynthia Lost 28 Pounds!

Cynthia Harris lost 28 lbs. with 21 Day Fix and Shakeology. She entered her results into the Beachbody Challenge, and won the $500 Daily Prize for August 5th!

Tell us about your life before you started the program. How did you feel about yourself and your body?
As I entered into my post-change-of-life time and my 50s, I felt tired and rundown. I would think about my past and how active I was, but as I got older, I felt my strength decreasing. I would look at myself in the mirror and think, “Wow, I have sure let things go.” My clothes looked horrible on me, and I was going up in size and weight. My metabolism was nonexistent, and no matter how much I starved myself, I couldn’t lose weight. Come to find out, starving myself was the worst thing for me. I would sit in my chair and when I would get up, it would take me walking about 20 feet before I could totally stand up straight. My blood pressure was starting to climb as well, sometimes being in the 130s/80s. In my earlier days, it usually ran about 110/60s.

What inspired you to change your life and begin your transformation journey?
I would mostly think about getting older and wondered if I would ever feel good again. I thought about my grandma, and the one time she had fallen and couldn’t get herself back up. I thought, that won’t happen to me. Well, I saw myself getting closer to that reality. I could hardly get up off the floor without using something to push up on. Getting up from a squatting position was getting more difficult. I saw the FOCUS T25 infomercial on TV and thought maybe I should try that. Then a friend at work told me about the 21 Day Fix, and I thought the more controlled portions would work better for me, so I bought it. That first week on the exercise routine, I followed the modifier. I could only do two push-ups on my toes, then I’d have to go to my knees, and I couldn’t hold a full plank for more than 15 seconds. Recently, I started 22 Minute Hard Corps, and for the Physical Fitness test, I was able to do 20 push-ups and hold my plank for over two minutes. I feel so good about how far I have come.

What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody help you overcome that challenge?
I was starving myself before, and 21 Day Fix taught me how to properly fuel my body and how to choose the right foods. I am now eating new foods that I hadn’t ever tried before, and I am loving it. A very inspiring moment for me was when I pushed myself and my endurance. I have always wanted to run a 5k. I finally did it this year, thanks to the great shape and endurance that I have built with 21 Day Fix!

What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
The 21 Day Fix made things so simple. It really helped me to discipline myself and see my nutrition as the way I was fueling my body. I learned so much about food prep and planning, which changed the way I do things in my kitchen. Having my food prepped in advance and taking my food to work helps me to stay on track. I can always be sure that I have food I like to eat. Before, relying on the cafeteria at work, the food was not always very appetizing, so I would find myself migrating to the grill and the cheeseburger and fries.


Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
To date, I have lost 37 lbs. and 26 inches, and have maintained that for the last year. I am feeling in the best shape of my life since I was in my 20s. I am mostly proud of how I feel about myself as I look in the mirror. Even though I still have areas I would like to improve on, I feel good about myself. Since running my 5k, I went on to run a 7k. I have adult daughters who are in their 20s, and they can’t keep up with me. They say they are proud of me. I am also proud of the fact that I have been helping others achieve what they felt they had lost as well as they got older. Helping others see that age doesn’t have to hold them back has become a passion of mine.

How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I am really paying attention to my body and how it feels. I can hardly go a day without drinking my Shakeology, and I love that I can eat and don’t feel like I am starving. I am building my confidence, and I am not afraid to put myself out there in the hopes of helping someone else achieve the same thing. I am doing so much more than I was before. I don’t have the aches and pains that I was having, and I feel so much stronger. I keep my appointment with myself and work out every day, except for rest days of course, and I have started paying more attention to my personal development. Becoming a Coach has also helped me stay accountable.

How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
It gave me an opportunity to encourage and receive encouragement from others. Sharing recipes and motivational tidbits was also a bonus. Some of the assignments were difficult, but it pushed me to think about who I was and why I ate the way I did. I also learned that I can have days when I might not do as well as I liked, but instead of beating myself up for it, I was able to look forward, move on, and leave that behind.

How did your Team Beachbody Coach support you on your journey?
During the Challenge Group, she would message me every day. She would also message me periodically about my progress and give me encouragement when the challenge was over. As I started coaching, she pushed me to do more and helped me through times of discouragement. I am on a great team, and through our team page, we have so much support and encouragement.

How did a Beachbody supplement, nutritional product, or program (such as Shakeology or Beachbody Ultimate Reset) support your transformation? What are the greatest benefits you gained? Did you see benefits to your energy, sleep, mood/mental clarity, or digestion/regularity?
I started drinking Shakeology. It has really helped me stay on track, and I have noticed that I sleep better. I don’t want to go a day without it. I usually drink it as my afternoon snack/meal, and it helps me get through that midday slump. I love it!

I have more energy throughout the day, and my physical results from the whole program have been great.
