What is the greatest challenge you faced before beginning the program? How did the program and Beachbody® help you overcome that challenge?
It had been a long time since I had put myself through any substantial workouts. Starting at the very beginning with Power 90 (the predecessor of P90) allowed me to start slow and build up the stamina to move on to more challenging workouts. I began Power 90 March 31, 2013. So I have been working at it for over a year … so far.
What in particular did you like about the program you chose?
I choose Power 90, because I needed a program to get started. I knew I was too fat and out of shape to begin with P90X or Insanity. But I wanted to do those in the future. I also didn’t know how my arthritis would respond to the workouts. After a few months, I moved on to Power 90 Master Series. It has a little more variety but is still very doable for me even with the arthritis. Then I decided to move up to P90X. I love the workouts and my body can handle them now. I completed one full round of P90X and I am now doing a round of P90X / INSANITY Hybrid. I enjoy Power 90 and the Power 90 Master Series because it has been a good mix of cardio and resistance training to improve my overall fitness. They are challenging but yet have modified moves that I can use on days when my arthritis is not feeling well. I have very few days now that I can’t workout due to my arthritis. It has greatly improved my joints stability and muscle strength.
Describe the results you achieved with your Beachbody program. Which achievements are you proud of?
I have lost 33 lbs and a total of 18 inches (8 inches off my waist). My current weight is 168 lbs. I plan to continue to sculpt my body and lose more belly fat and add more muscle. This was the first time in my life (now age 47) that I had to lose weight. The Beachbody program was easy to follow. I just had to provide the motivation to push play each day and eat good food and let the process do the work on reshaping my body. Also, my blood pressure is great. It averages around 105 / 68. My resting heart rate is down from 72 to 60.
How has your life changed since completing your Beachbody program?
I have much more energy and stamina for each day. The discipline to work out each day carries over to other areas of life including coaching my son’s sports teams.
How did participating in a Challenge Group help you reach your goals? How did your group support you and keep you accountable?
It was very helpful to have the accountability of a challenge group. We each posted our workout each day and if we were eating clean. If not, someone would call you out. Having a support team like TeamIronman is critical to initial success and maintaining that success.
